ShatChat
A chatroom for people on the toilet.
Some of your best thinking happens in there. Now it can happen out loud. To get in, you prove to your phone that you're sitting on a toilet — and you stay only as long as you stay seated.
How to get in
01
Snap the throne
Take a picture of a toilet. Your phone checks it on the spot — no toilet, no entry. 404 TOILET NOT FOUND.
02
Show us your loo view
Take a picture of the view in front of you, then enter something you ate yesterday. That's your username for this session.
03
Stay seated
Every 3 minutes, re-take your loo view to prove you haven't wandered off. A session lasts 15 minutes at most, then it just runs out.
What's in the room
One room, the whole world
A single chat with whoever else is on the toilet right now, and a running count of how many people are sitting. Messages stick around for 24 hours, so you can catch up on what you missed.
A new you every sit
Your username comes from something you ate yesterday — say hello to tacos48231 — and it changes every time you sit down. Say something ridiculous, walk away, and come back as somebody else.
The Daily Shat
One icebreaker a day, the same for everyone in the room, to get the shat discussion moving.
Reaction cards
Pre-made messages for when words fail you, like “fighting for my life.” Everyone else can double-tap to send thoughts and prayers.
Friends and DMs
Invite a friend with a one-time link through your own messages app. Once they accept, you can see when they're on the loo (unless they'd rather you didn't) and DM them. Your DMs stay put, so you can pick the conversation back up next time you're seated.
Toot Camouflage
A one-tap sound board — cough, clear throat, flush, trumpet — to cover up your unsavory bathroom sounds. It plays even with your phone on silent, because a cough on mute defeats the point.
Your toilet map
Opt in when you sit down and ShatChat pins where you were, building a map of every throne you've conquered. It's off unless you turn it on, and nobody sees your map but you.
Your photos never leave your phone
Both pictures are checked right on your phone, then thrown away. They're never uploaded and never seen by anyone — not us, not the other people in the room. Honestly, why would we want them?
There's no sign-up with an email or phone number, and ShatChat never asks for your contacts. The details are in our privacy policy.
Free, and 17+
ShatChat is free and there's nothing to buy. It's rated 17+ because the chat is real people typing whatever they like — every message in the room has a report button, and everyone pinky promises to be respectful on the way in.
Bring your own toilet.
